The idea that art gains value over time is both romanticized and manipulated. While some artworks do become culturally significant, much of the rising value is driven by speculation, hype, and elitist markets rather than genuine artistic merit. The art world often disguises profit motives behind claims of timeless meaning, turning cultural expression into a luxury investment. This calls into question whether we truly value art for its meaning—or just for its market potential.
Dr. Nicolai Kemle, chairman of IFKUR and partner at RFKN.legal, will lead the discussion.
